Lives and works in Paris

Valentin Béchade alias Teurk hand painting since its beginnings to places of conflict: Lebanon (Beirut), Palestine (Hebron), Israel (Jerusalem), and Bosnia, just after the war ended, he bomb the ruined bridge Mostar … Backed by a long history of graffiti, second generation, that of 90 years, he was able to move from street to gallery. His work is at the crossroads of the issues of humanity, society and brings all the aesthetic and political questions.
Béchade managed cleverly to conceptualize a long multiform work. The wild lettering of the beginnings, he pass from the spray to the brush, the sticker to the magnet, from the surface of the wall to the volume of the cinderblock, the grinder to the steel … One of his talents is to have focused his creation and reflections on the public support of the brutality of life, on raw materials of the street: the concrete and the steel.
So an emerging artist who seized cinderblock formatted and industrialized to build a piece, make it unique and immediately recognizable in 2000 as a giant collage black and white in a public space in painting on canvas, concrete but also steel. The echo of cinderblock wall, in opposition to the canvas, which becomes a symbol of his second signature. Béchade is also now a genuine sculptor, accomplished, perfectly mastering the grinder on his massive steel structures. Works executed in the struggle between man, the tool material and erecting steel totems striated, like Twin Towers, Bulk Revolt and Freedom, impossible to break down … And the volume of the frame, the sculptor to painter again, putting his artifact scene and flavor of Concrete, Concrete Jungle …

No wonder that the creator is also an experimenter. For some time, he mixed magnetism and aesthetics, music and serial number of effects, iron filings of rust, solid in fluid forms and figures, cast and stains … Magic of chemistry! In the Abstraction in of his experimental videos where it is not ignored “accretion” he signed with Simon Rouby and Boris Maleval, a masterpiece.

ACCRETION
(Process for agglomerating materials)
“Accretion” explores the blurred boundary between installation, experimental film, painting, photography, sculpting, music … the workspace is the object around which gravitate these mediums, which all contribute to try to make tangible the invisible energies that animate matter. This process of research and continuous improvisation born of unusual objects, videos, images, sounds. “
Teurk present here a movie from these experiments (duration: 7 minutes, and assembly sound design: Thomas Hardouin) and 5 paintings made in 2010 and 2011. In his paintings, he sculpts the liquid metal by playing magnetic fields to make tangible the invisible energies that animate the field.
As for the visual fascination for micro-physical processes at work, the random geometry, master of gesture, “Accretion” proves the constant desire of Teurk to indicate other scales and to divert the attention to other signals, such as many new interpretive guides to the world around him. The interaction between particles becomes allegory and can alternately be read as interactions between
people catalyst Universe, networking …
