David Bloch Gallery is honoured to present REMED new exhibition « Plenium » starting December 23rd, 2016 to January 21st, 2017.
For his third solo show in Marrakech, the artist present a stunning and vibrant series of canvas, drawings and sculptures inspired by his latest trips around the world: an inspiring quest for cosmic energies.
Working on the conjunction of geometry and calligraphy, seeking a harmonic and mathematic purity combined with the flow and the energy of the line, REMED looks for the truth through simplicity to discover the universal language of shapes and colors. Henceforth, he develops his own dialect, cosmology and spirituality-centered. He simplifies the style and densifies the content.
The Moroccan influence – which guided his path of life, his path of art – embodied by the fusion of geometric and calligraphic elements and makes the figures disappear within the vivid colors and flat patterns. Figuration tends towards Abstraction. The ancient practice of geometry is the result of the exceptional abstractive figuration where the visible becomes invisible and the virtual becomes real: a bridge between two worlds.
The intricate stories he weaves into each of his images perform almost like religious parables or folk legends with deep significance. A new obsession is born: the relation between mathematics and aesthetics.
Reflecting upon the harmony of « the everything », REMED’s work could be seen as something soaked with balance and contrasts from Islamic Art: a visual code in which all the image aspects are involved in a research for synchrony and giving the audience an infinite poem where nothing has been left to hazard.
Trying to create a universal language capable to go through social and cultural values with a visual speech, REMED communicates via classic themes and existential dualities such life and death. His work stands at the border of Figuration and Abstraction to find common grounds with the spectator.
REMED’s work never ceases to refine and improve to become a recognizable and inimitable style. His art is a blend of Science and Soul, a way to cope with pain and happiness, love and hate, light and darkness, a remedy for life itself.
