Born in Casablanca and based between Paris and Marrakech, Houda Kabbaj is a photographer, architect, and researcher.
She explores the boundaries between research and creation through collaborative processes that reveal new ways of perceiving our environment. Her work is grounded in a personal and experimental research practice that seeks to uncover subtle dimensions of the natural world surrounding her.
She questions the relationship between the materiality of the image and natural properties, extending her investigations into the darkroom, which has become a space of experimentation with “living” elements.

In Houda Kabbaj’s work, the relationship to nature is not a conceptual gesture but a fundamental, almost biological given.
Her practice recenters the “living” as the matrix of all possible narratives, overturning the logic of photography conceived as evidence and transforming it into a field of experience where shifting truths take shape.
By immersing herself in the depths of detail and proximity, Houda Kabbaj reveals the absolute beauty of natural forms—a silent perfection that transcends the human and questions our ways of inhabiting the world.
Each element becomes a fragment of a broader narrative, in which the memory of the living is transformed into a creative resource.
Rooted in the exploration of territories and extended within the darkroom, her practice offers a poetic and critical approach: nature appears not as a backdrop, but as a physical, spiritual, and philosophical response to contemporary imbalances.
By revealing these micro-worlds that precede us and will outlast us, Houda Kabbaj invites us to rethink photography as an act of relation, a gesture oriented toward possible futures.
